With a season lasting from August to the end of June and a 2 - 3 week break around New Year. Over a 7 year period the player would have had 1 full year off of training.

ENGLAND

Depending on the different academy status they will offer different training hours.

Category 1 status:

Foundation phase under 5's to under 11's. 8 hours a week for 46 weeks accumulating 368 hours a year

Youth development und

Youth development under

12's to under 16's. 12 hours per week for 46 weeks accumulating 552 hours a year

Professional development under 17's to under 21's training 12 - 14 hours a week for 46 weeks accumulating 552 - 672 hours a year

With a season running from August to December with a 10 day break and January to March with a 4 week break. Over a 8 year period under 12's to under 16's players will only have 1 full year off of training.

Under 17s up running on the same structure as the professional players with a season running from July to May giving the players 1 month off. Over a 12 year period the player would have only have had 1 year off.
