Roots and Shoots – Healthy Living Project
This project delivers education about healthier living including how to grow, harvest and cook with fresh
produce.
Our Roots and Shoots Garden provides 200 children from 10 schools with their own plot to plant and
cultivate seasonal fruits and vegetables. Beginning in March the pupils not only learn about gardening but
also healthy eating, cooking and exercise. These plots and their magnificent hand crafted scarecrows are
available for all visitors to view in the Roots and Shoots Garden.
We will be opening up applications for new schools to join this programme in the autumn.

Thank you to The Shears Foundation for their generous support for the Roots and Shoots Programme.
The Poison Garden Drugs Education Project
We use guided tours of our Poison Garden to help young people to understand more about the effect that
drugs, derived from various plants, can have on their bodies and minds. The project aims to help young
people to make informed choices and to understand more about the implications of drug misuse.
We are currently developing a new programme.
Contact Louise Stott - [email protected] if you are a teacher who would like to register
interest in being part of the pilot of our new programme.
Forget-Me-Not Project
The Forget-Me-Not project is for young people with additional needs. It delivers fun and inclusive
activities including, crafts, baking and cooking, games, outdoor activities, and of course, gardening. The
young people enjoy themselves and socialise with their peers, building their confidence and independence
in a relaxing and supportive environment. We offer a group for ages 5+ once a month on a Saturday and a
weekly Wednesday evening group for ages 13+.
