Fundraising and Outreach Convenor [email protected] REBECCA BLAIR My role on council consists of 2 parts. My first responsibility is to raise funds for both GUSA and for our chosen charity of the year - this year is Rape Crisis Scotland. Secondly, I am responsible for encouraging GUSA to get involved with and help the outside community in Glasgow, whether it be through sport or other means. This year we are hoping to provide weekly training sessions for the outreach charity FARE (Family Action in Rogerfield and Easterhouse) along with helping CHAS (Children's Hospices Across Scotland) with their fundraising and campaign work. I am also here to support any clubs who want to individually fundraise or get involved in outreach projects themselves. I am really looking forward to creating different fundraising events and getting involved in the community around Glasgow. I have been a Freshers Helper for the past two years and it has definitely been one of the best experiences at university. My advise to new students would be to give everything a chance. GUSA provides such a wide variety of different sports that you are able to try out at the taster sessions where you are bound to find at least one sport you love. Getting involved in sports allows you to make loads of new friends along with keeping you active and involved in university life.
