GREETINGS FROM PROFESSOR
SCOTT
Hello and welcome to an amazing
place to live and study medicine!
At Liverpool you will have everything
you need to make the most of your
talents and prepare for a successful
career ahead. The staff and I want to
support your stepwise development
of knowledge and skills.
We also want to encourage the
development of you as an amazing
doctor.
In the words of Beth Peterkenecht, a student who spoke at this year’s
graduation,
‘Medicine is an art as well as a science practised by doctors
who bring not only knowledge and technical skill to the bedside,
but also their humanity, concern and kindness.’
Take time to preserve the creative and sporting talents that give you joy and
an understanding of others. Build lifelong friendships and have the courage
to try new things. Find the societies that suit you and enjoy growing your
teamwork and leadership skills.
It is a wonderful course and I hope that you will find it fascinating, make it
your own and strive for excellence. Equally, I hope you will love being part of
the fantastic student and staff community that is the School of Medicine in the
glorious city of Liverpool. Be kind to those around you and yourself and most
importantly, have fun!
The staff and I are really looking forward to meeting you at the School
Welcome Party on Tuesday 17th September. See you soon!
