WOMEN’S FOOTBALL - CAPTAIN LUCY FULLER Want to join a sports club with fun training, socials and a yearly tour? LOOK NO FURTHER. The LMWFC team is run by medics for medics. We train on Tuesdays and play matches in the campus league on Sundays. Our regular socials include nights out, meals out and the main social of the year: ANNUAL TOUR! Previous locations include Frankfurt 2018 and Berlin 2019 (we’ll try to venture away from Germany next year) All abilities welcome even if you’ve never kicked a ball before! If you’d like to meet new people in all years come see us at the medics Freshers’ Fair! NETBALL - CAPTAIN BLAISE BIRD Our 4 teams play in weekly matches, and we have players that just come to training for some fun and social playing! Last year we reached one of our highest member totals ever, with around 100 players joining and we can’t wait to see lots of new and returning faces this year. We train weekly and play one match a week in the leagues. We also have loads of socials throughout the year, including Freshers’ Welcome Party, Christmas dinner, and an annual tour, which are always amazing experiences. Whether you haven’t thrown a ball since year 10 or if you’ve been a county netballer, we’d love to see you! MIXED HOCKEY - CAP- TAIN JOE HOLDSWORTH SQUASH - CAPTAIN JOE CLARKSON ‘ Worlds healthiest sport’ - Forbes Why squash? The question should be why not? Agility, cardiovascular fitness and spacial awareness are a few of many qualities you will gain. We have refurbished courts which are available to book from 7am-10pm everyday. As a club we train on a Tuesday evening and usually go for a drink afterwards, whether that be alcoholic or not is your choice! For those who like competition we set up a ladder throughout the year for you to challenge students in different years with NAMS in November. And of course not to forget, we have club socials which are always a great way to meet new people whilst enjoying your favourite curry. Overall, whether you have played or you haven’t, give it a go. We’re all very friendly people and are more than happy to help you improve not only your squash skills but academia too. Liverpool Medical School Hockey Club: the largest and best club of the medical school. We welcome all from beginners to any of the international professionals amongst you. We have a great group of members from all year groups and it’s a great opportunity for you to mix with older year groups and make some friends you’ll have for the rest of medical school! With three teams we play in the uni league and against other medical schools in the NAMS tournament. Throughout the year we go for BBQs (when it’s sunny), fancy dress and other socials, aiming to provide both sport and socialising so you can keep healthy and happy! We train on Wednesdays and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask when you see us at the Freshers’ Fair! MEN’S FOOTBALL - CAPTAIN KIEREN HIGGINSON The LMSFC is one of the biggest clubs in the LMSS. We have three 11-a-side teams and a 5-a-side team playing throughout the year in the uni league. Annually, we compete in the NAMS football tournament against other medical schools. In 2018 we smashed it and came out as champions! Whether you’re playing competitively or just want a kick about with some mates, we encourage everyone to come to training every Tuesday. It’s a great way to improve your footballing ability as well as meeting people from every year. We have some great socials planned this year so get stuck in and see you in the new year!! 18
