Growing up, Jonathan Fairbairn
took a liking to listening to talk
radio station 702 because of
his parents. “My mom and dad
would always listen to 702 in the
house and in the car,” says
Fairbairn who goes by his
moniker Khabazela. The
37-year-old from the west rand
in Johannesburg always paid
attention when listening to 702
that he began to wonder what
it would be like to work for the
radio station. “When I was
in matric, I wanted to be in
radio, so I called 702 all those
years ago to find out how do I
become a presenter,” shares
Khabazela. “The person who
picked up the phone advised
me to go study journalism.”
Khabazela wasn’t really
interested in studying Journalism
and opted for Bcom in
Marketing instead.
