Jonathan Fairbairn | 702 BY Machaba Matsapola JONATHAN HAS BEEN GLUED TO 702 FROM A YOUNG AGE Jonathan went from tuning into 702 on a daily to joining the talk radio station. 8 Frequency Magazine Growing up, Jonathan Fairbairn took a liking to listening to talk radio station 702 because of his parents. “My mom and dad would always listen to 702 in the house and in the car,” says Fairbairn who goes by his moniker Khabazela. The 37-year-old from the west rand in Johannesburg always paid attention when listening to 702 that he began to wonder what it would be like to work for the radio station. “When I was in matric, I wanted to be in radio, so I called 702 all those years ago to find out how do I become a presenter,” shares Khabazela. “The person who picked up the phone advised me to go study journalism.” Khabazela wasn’t really interested in studying Journalism and opted for Bcom in Marketing instead.
