OR NATE ADAMS, a true
veteran of the sport of
FMX, enjoying the ride is
the key to his success.
Amassing an astounding 19 X
Games medals, a record that
many FMX riders would give
everything for, he sits currently
as the most decorated athlete in
X Games history. The feat hasn’t
come without a price though, like
Adams says:
“You sign the waiver whether you
know it or not, every time you
throw a leg over that bike.”
From the time he was 15 years
old, Nate’s main focus has been
to make a living riding his dirt
bike. This passion has led him
on a path that has taken him to
almost, if not every continent in
the world to ride and perform
freestyle shows for fans abroad.
From a daring 3am escape
with the help of some nuns to
passport stamps maxing out and
palm trees on his own private
course in Temecula, CA the heart
of FMX, Adams is living the life
he dreamed of many years ago;
as a young kid popping in that
VHS tape of Crusty Demons and
Moto XXX.
We see these riders all day long
now with the access to social
media outlets. At any given time
we can watch countless clips,
look at pictures, and even follow
them on Facebook, Twitter or
Instagram. But who are these
larger than life characters set
to do battle in a modern day
gladiator scene (or the Staples
arena, home of X Games the last
ten years)?
On a break from riding, due to
a minor slip up resulting in a
hairline fracture to his fibula, I
had a chance to sit down with
Nate ‘The Destroyer’ Adams
to find out who he is with the
helmet off and what life is like
for the flawless and determined
FMX star. u
