The 2018 Freedom Fest Celebration will feature great live music throughout the two days of events in Morgan Hill .

T he 2018 Freedom Fest Celebration will feature lots of great live music throughout the two days of events in Morgan Hill . The music begins , as always at 6 pm on July 3rd with the Patriotic Sing , featuring songs of our country sung by the children of the community . Led by Musical Director , Karen Crane , local schoolchildren of all ages will be singing songs of our country and paying tribute to out active military and veterans . This event will be held at the Morgan Hill Downtown Amphitheater .

The 2018 Family Music Fest is at its traditional location on Monterey Road in downtown Morgan Hill . The music will begin on July 3rd at 7 pm with a salute to our veterans from the VFW Post 6309 , and the National Anthem performed by Angeline Madriaga , a local 16 year-old who will be a junior at Ann Sobrato High School this Fall .

She will also sing the National Anthem at the beginning of the 5K Walk / Run and the Fireworks show as well ! The Patriotic Sing participants return for a cameo appearance .

At the 3rd Street Stage , live music for the Street Dance will be provided by “ Janel and the Heist ,” a local music scene favorite — a dance and party band playing top 40 from the last 30 years . They ’ ve played corporate gigs for Walmart and Coca Cola , benefits for Harvest Food Bank , Save the Music , Focus Foundation , private parties and nightclubs throughout the Bay Area . The band always packs the house with energy and passion .

Over on 2nd Street , DJ E-Poki TM , member and alumni of “ Scratch DJ Academy , will keep everyone dancing throughout the night .

This year ’ s Fireworks Show will be held for the 6th year at the Morgan Hill Sports Center on Condit Road between Tennant and Dunne

Avenues and will begin at 5pm on the 4th . We are excited to provide two great musical acts to help you celebrate Independence Day !

The show will start at 6 pm with the Country Cougars are a hot ‘ rockin ’ country band playing new and classic country and quickly becoming one of Northern California ’ s favorite bands .

Karen Crane and The Patriotic Singers will be making a return appearance at 7:30 pm , and will give everyone a chance to catch a glimpse of the wonderful program that they performed at the Patriotic Sing to kick-off our 2018 “ Happy Birthday America ” celebration . Back again this year , and closing out the two day celebration , will be one of South Bay ’ s most popular bands — The Usual Suspects — with their high-energy classic rock . They will play from 8 pm till the end of the evening ’ s festivities .

Angeline Madriaga

Angeline Felicity Madriaga is a 16 yr old upcoming Junior at Sobrato High School . She has been part of the Morgan Hill Freedom Fest celebration since the age of 9 when Mrs . Karen Crane fi rst heard her sing at Los Paseos Elementary School . She invited Angeline to be part of the Patriotic Singers and to sing the National Anthem in honor of our active Military and Veterans . Angeline ’ s father is also a Navy Veteran . She is thankful to Mrs . Karen Crane for her love and support and in believing in her singing talent .

In 2015 , Angeline was one of the top 10 fi nalist of SF Niners ’ Golden Voice Competition to sing the national anthem for a Niners ’ game . It was a great experience for her to sing inside Levi ’ s stadium in front of professional judges .

Angeline who played the role of Mulan at South Valley Civic Theater and San Jose Children ’ s Musical Theater is also an active member of John Bigceglie ’ s GCMT . She is also busy being part of Bytes N ’ Notes and the church choir .

One of her biggest breaks is when she was chosen to be the real-life Moana for the popular youtube channel “ Working With Lemons ”. They fi lmed 3 music videos : “ How Far I ’ ll Go ”, “ You ’ re Welcome ” and “ I Am Moana ” in Oahu , Hawaii . It was an amazing experience she will never forget . It was a lot of hard work fi lming in the sun and the water but she had a lot of fun . If you haven ’ t seen the videos , you can search “ Angeline Moana ” on youtube .

With her busy schedule , Angeline also manages to squeeze in her love of basketball . As a Freshman she made Sobrato ’ s Girl ’ s Varsity Basketball Team and is an active basketball player with Mc Elite AAU travel team . With basketball as her favorite sport , she enjoys playing it with her father and her brother , Vincent . Angeline thanks her parents for always letting her pursue her dreams whether it ’ s theater , singing or basketball . It is always an honor for her to be part of this wonderful Morgan Hill event .
