South Bay Blue Star Moms are mothers of children currently serving or who have served in the Armed Forces . Dedicated to supporting those currently serving and our honored veterans , they support each other from boot camp to deployment to return from war . They continue to support deployed troops with care packages from home , as well as increasing our focus and community awareness of the needs of those coming home from the battlefield . South Bay Blue Star Moms is affiliated with Blue Star Mothers of America , Inc ., which began during WWII and is officially chartered by Congress .
Mr . Lawson Sakai , was Grand Marshal of the 2014 Freedom Fest Parade , he was a member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and Military Intelligence Service during World War II . Last year the soldiers of the 442nd were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal by the U . S . Congress , one of the highest civilian awards in the United States .
Dan Benz , Sr . is sitting on his custom built 1938 TD35 tractor . His family immigrated from Austria and New Zealand to make Morgan Hill their home in America . His kids are first generation Americans .
These little tumbling gymnasts are from the Champions Academy Gymnastics in Morgan Hill . They continued tumbling for the whole parade route !! The Academy was founded by World Champion and Olympic Medal winner , Jinjing Zhang .
CommonWealth Central Credit Union was a huge hit distributing fans along the parade route . Everyone wanted one since it was so hot ! If you didn ’ t get one I understand they will be handing them out again in 2015 !!
