“ Mount Rushmore ”

America is a truly beautiful place . America houses many wonderful presidents , places , and views . But , the one thing that I love about America is that it is abundant with Historical sites , National Parks , and , my favorite , National monuments . National monuments have a lot of history that gives artistic design and that is why I would choose a National Monument over the other choices . Without further ado , if I could go to any National Monument in America , I would choose Mount Rushmore .

Before we talk about Mount Rushmore ’ s looks or any of that , here is a brief history about the monument . Mount Rushmore started construction on October 4 , 1927 , and finished on October 31 , 1937 . The designers of this National Monument were Lincoln Borglum and his brother , Gutzon Borglum . It took 400 men and women to make this monument . The project was dangerous work up there when they were working , not only because of how tall the monument was , but also the fact that 90 % of the monument was made using explosives . That is a brief history on Mount Rushmore .
Now that we know a little bit about the history of Mount Rushmore , let ’ s talk about who the people are on Mount Rushmore . The first President on Mount Rushmore is George Washington . Why wouldn ’ t he be there ? Mr . Washington was the first President of the United States of America and he led the people of this new country before we all went into chaos . The second President on Mount Rushmore is Thomas Jefferson . He is America ’ s third President and he was not only a great leader , he helped create and write the Declaration of Independence . The third President on Mount Rushmore is Theodore Roosevelt .
Theodore was a hero in Cuba during the Spanish-American War and was one of the most popular and important Presidents ever to serve in the Chief Executive Office . The fourth and final President on Mount Rushmore is Abraham Lincoln . Mr . Lincoln was our 16th President and he was instrumental in helping to free the slaves from slavery during the Civil War . These are the Presidents on our National Monument and a little bit of history on each one .
There are many reasons to go to this place and these are the reasons why I would want to go . First , the sight is really and truthfully awesome . You go there and you see the past Presidents of America , beautifully carved into a mountain . I don ’ t know about you , but that gives me a really good feeling . Second , I would go there to learn the history and fun facts about the monument in person . Seeing facts and history on the Internet is not the same as a tour of the place with history every time you stop . Thirdly , none of my friends have been to Mount Rushmore before . I have been to the Statue of Liberty a few years ago and some of my classmates have been there too , but I haven ’ t met one person that has been to Mount Rushmore ! If I do manage to go there someday , I could tell everyone about my experience at Mount Rushmore and maybe even teach them a thing or two .
So , out of all of the National Monuments in America , I would choose to go to Mount Rushmore . I would go there not only for its artistic design , but I would go there for its history too . All in all , America houses many amazing National monuments and the one I would want to go to see would be … Mount Rushmore .
