When groomsmen first began, they began as a means of protection for the groom. They were the “bodyguards” ensuring that the groom was able to take his place beside his bride. Times have changed since this custom first originated however. It originally took place when things such as kingdoms were uniting through a wedding, or a single union of two high standing people, could substantially change a situation (or entire countries for that matter). As times changed so did many pieces of the custom of both bridesmaids and groomsmen.

In this day and age the groomsmen have more mild-mannered things that are expected from them. They are as follows:

Before The Wedding Day

•Pay for the cost of person wedding attire (I.E. tux, shoes, vest etc.) that has been chosen

•Get sized and place a deposit down in as soon as possible. The full cost is not usually required up front, but is an option.

•Help the best man pay for the bachelor party. Help plan and set up the party if needed as well.

During The Ceremony & Reception

•You may be asked to help escort guests to their seats.

•Be aware of photos. Actively participate in getting people together for photos the photographer is trying to acquire.

•Be supportive and helpful. Don’t wait to be asked to help, offer your assistance whenever you can.

• Dance. Have fun. Help the other guests get into it and get involved.

•Be on your best behavior! Be respectful and a good friend. This includes drinking responsibly!

After The Wedding

•Help clean up.

•Help pack gifts into the bride and groom’s vehicle.

Groomsmen are not unlike bridesmaids. They are there to support, encourage, and assist the groom just as the bridesmaids are there for the bride. The bridal party offers the amazing potential of a less stressful wedding for the couple, but only if they play an active role. If you have been asked to be groomsmen, prove the groom made a good choice in asking you by fulfilling your duties.

There are many advantages when purchasing artificial flowers instead of live flowers.

Artificial Vs. Live Flowers

Groomsmen's Responsibilities

•The selection of flowers isn’t limited to season. This means the options are basically endless.

•An artificial arrangement is less fragile. Although both should be treated with care, the additional sturdiness obtained with an artificial arrangement offers a little bit more forgiveness.

•Real flowers deteriorate and wilt. Artificial arrangements however will not wilt, will not die, and if desired can be kept as a keepsake or given as favors.

•Artificial arrangements can be purchased and prepared further in advance. In order to maintain a live flowers beauty and luster any arrangements cannot be prepared until as close to the event as possible. This leaves room for late deliveries, damaged products (with no chance of replacement in time of the event), and things of that nature. Artificial flowers eliminate that worry. Purchase and receive the arrangements in advance and be secure that on that special day your flowers will look just like you want.

•Artificial flowers are often a cheaper solution. Exotic live plants or flowers that are out of seasons are not only hard to find, but if found can be very pricey.
