Family Service Sunday continues to bring Prep families together
to serve meals at POTS on Webster Avenue.
Around the world there are over 260 million children and youth
that lack access to education. The Global Red Chair Campaign, or
Silla Roja, raises awareness of this social justice issue. During the
first week of December, students painted chairs red and placed
them around the school with posters in all the languages taught
at the Prep to bring attention to this global problem and highlight
the work that the Jesuits are doing to address it in Latin America, the
Caribbean, Africa and Europe through Fe y Alegía. As part of these
efforts $215 was collected and donated to Friends of Fe y Alegría.

We celebrated mass in the University Church to mark All Saints
Day and the recognition of our seniors’ Christian Service.
In November, six students were accompanied by Dr. Morris and
Mrs. Simeone on our first exchange with the Jesuit boarding
school, Clongowes Wood College, in County Kildare, Ireland. As
part of the experience, the boys stayed in homes and in the
dorms with their host brothers. Our group was welcomed
warmly and entertained by traditional Irish music, a school play
and a professional rugby match. They visited Leixlip Castle
(home of the Guinness family), enjoyed a James Joyce tour of
Dublin, Trinity College, and planted an American Red Oak on the
Clongowes grounds in commemoration of the first exchange
experience between the two schools. We look forward to the
return visit of our Irish friends in February 2018!
