Class Notes
1957
On September 20th , the Class of ' 57 celebrated its 60th reunion . The event was organized by Ed McAnaney and Al Preisser . The group gathered in the Prep Commons where they were welcomed by President Fr . Chris Devron . He and several student ambassadors led the 27 alumni and guests on a tour of the school ' s facilities , including the new chapel and science labs . The group enjoyed a stop to admire their class picture from younger days . Unfortunately , Bob Putlock and Skip Weisman had to cancel due to Hurricane Irma .
The Prep visit was followed by dinner at Enzo ' s of Arthur Avenue where Fr . Devron gave the blessing and thanked the class for their support and loyalty . A very festive evening of reconnections and reminiscences ensued . Vintage photos were supplied by Hugh Laubis . Classmates traveled from seven states and John Hoey came from London . Although he couldn ' t attend , it seems
the only classmate still living in the Bronx is Pete Lutz . For some , such as Les Duffy , this was their first reunion since they left the Prep .
A highlight of the event were the bios submitted by 35 members of the class recounting the paths their lives and careers have taken over the last 60 years and their affectionate memories of their time at the Prep as well as their gratitude for their Jesuit education .
The very successful reunion ended with a great spirit of comradery and many promises to keep in touch . Let ' s hope that keeping in touch includes letting your class reps know what you are doing so we can report it in this space .
