Mignone ’88 Scholarship Fund $289,534 total $25,000 new contributions Established in 2004 by the family of Joseph and Marie McGovern Established in 2003 by Roberto Mignone, this fund increases the “to honor their contributions of time and resources to the Prep,” this endowment supports student scholarships. Mockler ’47 Scholarship Fund $50,311 total Established in 1990 by Colman Mockler’s participation in the Shea-McDonough Society, this fund helps to increase the endowment “so that deserving students could receive the scholarships at Fordham Prep. Meehan III ’70 Scholarship Fund $31,838 total Overseers as well as Chairman of the Simmons College Corporation. He was Chairman and CEO of The Gillette Company from 1976 until his death in 1991. Established in 2000 by William F. Meehan III, this fund was established “so that a Fordham Prep education might be attainable for students, no matter their financial circumstances.” The Murray Family Scholarship Fund William Meehan is an author and lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a Director Emeritus of McKinsey & Company. $1,144,299 total Dr. James P. Melican Scholarship Fund $350,940 total $25,000 new contributions Established in 1989 by James P. Melican ’58 to honor his father, Jim Melican, who served on the Prep mathematics faculty from 1923 to 1963, this fund adds to the endowment available for student scholarships. Jim Melican was revered by hundreds of Prep students during his career and fondly remembered for his willingness to offer extra instruction whenever asked for help. Bernard L. Menkhaus P ’61 Scholarship Fund $770,581 total Established in 2010 by the estate of Bernard Menkhaus, this fund is intended “to support the mission of Fordham Prep.” A graduate of Saint Xavier High School, Bernie Menkhaus “always said he was grateful for the education he got and wanted to make sure that others got the chance that he did.” He is the father of Brother Jerome Menkhaus, SJ ’61. James F. Murray ’63, Lorraine Murray, Robert C. Murray ’64, Peter J. Murray ’68 Established in 1999 by Jim ‘63 and Lorraine Murray “to increase the endowment and make money available for financial aid and student scholarships,” the Murray Family Scholarship honors the memory of Robert C. Murray ‘64. After graduating from Fordham Prep in 1964 and Fordham University in 1968, Bob attended the Harvard Business School and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969. On June 7, 1970 near the village of Hiep Duc in the Republic of Vietnam, Bob Murray sacrificed his life to protect his men. In August 1974, Staff Sergeant Murray’s family was presented with the Medal of Honor. Edward I. O’Brien ‘46 Scholarship Fund $158,708 total $5,000 new contributions Established in 2001 by Edward O’Brien in memory of his parents, Edward I. and Marguerite O’Brien, this fund increases the endowment for student scholarships. Ed, a graduate of Fordham Unive rsity and St. John’s Law School, served as President of the Securities Industry Association (1974-92) and as Chair of the Executive Committee for Bache & Company.
