A Farewell to Larry Curran ‘77
We have asked Larry to accept the role of
Assistant to the Vice President for the
remainder of this academic year. He will
continue to work with the EDC team on a
variety of tasks and help us as we search
for the next Engagement/Alumni Director.
Larry will help us train and develop the
new director so that his many years of
service and knowledge can effectively be
shared.
We are happy Larry has agreed to this role
and thankful at his openness to approach
this in such a thoughtful manner to allow a
slow transition and download of the
wealth of Prep knowledge he has gained
This past summer, members of the
Engagement, Development &
Communications (EDC) team spent a great
deal of time working on their individual
goals and how they accompany the goals
of the EDC Office and the Prep. At that
time, Larry Curran expressed a desire to
leave Fordham Prep and seek a new
adventure. He said that he “wanted to go
back to being just an alumnus” of the Prep.
Larry shared that this feeling had been
brewing since his last class reunion in
2012, but appreciating the challenges the
Prep was facing with the transitions from
Fr. Ken Boller, SJ to Fr. Christopher Devron,
SJ and from John Kahl to Jose Gonzalez,
Larry put any such plans on hold. After the
EDC Office acclimated to Joan Wollman’s
retirement, Larry felt the time was right to
begin a search in the nonprofit or small
business world in the New York metropolitan
area that complements his years of
experience in communi
