National Merit Semi-Finalists
Bake Sale for Italy
On the morning of Wednesday, August 24th, a large part of central Italy was struck by a devastating 6.2-magnitude earthquake. Quickly, the Fordham Prep Italian Club organized and sponsored a bake sale on September 19 and 20, with all proceeds donated to Italian American Relief( IAR), an initiative of the National Italian American Foundation. IAR is a coordinated effort to provide immediate response when natural catastrophes and other disasters occur in Italy, such as the earthquake which struck central Italy on August 24. In addition, the Italian Club accepted monetary donations to help the earthquake victims. Through the generosity of the Prep community, the bake sale raised $ 1400! The Italian Club is grateful for the generosity of the student body and your continued prayers for all those affected by this tragedy.
Christopher J. Esposito’ 17 Jay R. Shenoy’ 17
The National Merit Scholarship program announced that two Fordham Prep students, Christopher J. Esposito’ 17 and Jay R. Shenoy’ 17, were named National Merit Semi-finalists.
Freshman Christmas Crafts
Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship program is an annual competition for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships- 1,500,000 high school students in 22,000 high schools across the United States entered the competition by taking the PSAT test during their junior year. From there, 50,000 of that number qualified as high scorers and 16,000 are named National Merit Semifinalists.
Congratulations to these young men for a job well done!
Local senior residences received crafts made by our freshmen. The program is organized by our Service Department.
