Football Hall of Fame On May 6, over 175 Prep alumni, administrators, coaches, students, parents, and friends and family of the inductees gathered for the Third Annual Football Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony. Only days after the passing of football legend, Bruce Bott ’59, many of the attendees who played with, for or against Bruce and his teams, fondly reflected upon the many memories of their time with him. Rev. Christopher Devron, SJ, remarked in his opening prayer that all of us could be inspired by how Bruce, “as a Man for Others, taught generations of Prep players the same values he learned as a Prep student and football player: character, integrity and confidence.” The evening focused on the inductees, including the Prep’s first professional football player, an inventor, industrialists, lawyers, a doctor, the founder of the Fathers’ Club, accomplished college football athletes, U.S. military veterans, members of the financial community, business owners, and even a Jesuit and former principal of the Prep. The 2017 class of inductees represents not only some of the best athletes ever to play football for Fordham Prep, it also represents the strong values and faith shared by all Prep alumni. As successful as each of these men were or are in their chosen professions, their success has been overshadowed by their service to the Prep and the communities in which they live.
