Q & A with Paul Brusco ’ 82
The Prep community welcomes Paul Brusco to his new role as chairman of the Board of Trustees . Paul is a triple Ram : he graduated from the Prep , the Gabelli School of Business and the Law School .
Hello , Paul . Congratulations on being named chairman . Tell us about your new role at the Prep .
Let me start by thanking my wife , Michelle . Being a member of the Prep ’ s board for the past 3 years and taking on this new position as chair has only been possible because of her love and encouragement . I also thank my brothers , Joseph P ’ 08 , Nicholas ’ 79 and John ’ 83 for their support in all things , but especially when it comes to the Prep .
1952 and 1953 On June 6 at the Water Club in NYC , the classes of 1952 and 1953 celebrated their graduation from Fordham Prep . This was their 24th consecutive annual gathering . Classmates attended from Florida , Massachusetts , upstate New York , Long Island , Connecticut , Michigan , North Carolina , Illinois , New Jersey and locally . Overall , 30 classmates gathered . Fr . Christopher Devron , SJ opened the gathering with a prayer and offered a moment of silence for classmates who had passed away this year .
As chair I will continue to collaborate with other members of the board of trustees in order to provide the support for the faculty , staff and administration to do their best . I appreciate the opportunity to give back to the school that has meant so much to me and my family . It is an understatement to say the Prep was a transformative experience for me !

Why do you say that ? Look , our parents came from Italy . Our mother became a teacher , our father was initially a carpenter . Fordham Prep was a wonderful opportunity to obtain a first-class education and not only academically ; it planted in us the sense of the world as a mosaic and to always take the bigger picture into consideration .
Was there anything particular about the Prep that you remember ? It was a melting pot : the students were from different geographic , economic and racial backgrounds . Looking back , I now realize that was an important part of my experience at the school .

What plans do you have as chairman ? The Board is committed to ensuring that qualified students have the opportunity independent of their financial situation for the same life changing experience I had , as well as preserving and enhancing the quality of the Jesuit education which is critical to the continued success of the Prep .
At a brick and mortar level , I am eager to see continued improvements to the classrooms , especially the east wing project . The new lobby was a great re-use of space , and with the community ’ s support we will make the same kind of quality improvementsby modernizing the 2nd and 3rd floor classrooms .

Thank you very much for your time and good luck . A pleasure talking with you !
