CELEBRATING NINE YEARS OF TRANSFORMATIVE PROGRESS AT THE PREP
Helped establish a cultural and academic immersion program with Jesuit schools on in teaching and learning for the 21st century , facilities , financial sustainability and access for qualified students from families of limited financial resources , our Catholic and Ignatian identity , student formation programs , and organizational effectiveness .
The Prep ’ s Board of Trustees has begun a nationwide search process to appoint Father Devron ’ s permanent successor for the 2023 – 2024 school year . The Board has appointed Mr . Brian Carney to serve as interim president starting June 2 , 2022 until the successor takes office . Mr . Carney , a member of the Prep ’ s Leadership Team for almost nine years , serves currently as Vice President for Mission Integration and Planning . He began his career at Fordham Prep in 1993 and has served the community in numerous capacities : as a teacher in the religious studies and math departments , Director of Campus Ministry , Coordinator of Service Immersion Programs , and as a track and field coach . Mr . Carney assumed the role of interim principal in 2015 – 2016 . In 2013 he was awarded a Bene Merenti medal for 20 years of distinguished service to the Prep . Mr . Carney holds a Bachelor of Arts in theology as well as master ’ s degrees in religious education , administration and supervision , and nonprofit leadership from Fordham University .
Father Devron concluded his remarks to the faculty on a personal note : “ Leaving behind people who are dear to us and a mission which moves our heart is never easy for any Jesuit , and it will certainly not be easy for me . I am consoled that an extraordinary leadership team and Board of Trustees will continue to guide Fordham Prep ’ s future growth . I am especially grateful to Brian Carney and Mario Ciampi ’ 78 for their willingness to provide stability , vision , and continuous improvement in so many areas of the Prep ’ s mission .”

Facilities enhancements
The Igniting Our Mission Campaign enhanced the Prep ’ s physical plant , providing improvements to ensure that the school ’ s facilities matched its excellence in the classrooms , including :
The renovation of the Rowen Athletic Field and the Prep ’ s athletic locker rooms , including the Duffy Locker Room .
New construction of the Rowen Lobby and renovation of the Moglia Commons .
Renovation and new construction of the East Wing , which included the Maria Brusco Counseling Center , and Leavey Foundation Chapel of St . Ignatius Loyola .
Renovation of more than 20 classrooms , the administrative center , and construction of the new Bertrand Admissions Center and the Alderman Makerspace Lab to enhance our iSTEAM program .
Fundraising and Endowment Success
The Prep ’ s endowment has increased over 130 % during Father Devron ’ s tenure .

The Igniting Our Mission ( IOM ) Campaign , announced publicly after the Prep ’ s successful 175th anniversary , launched with an aggressive goal and at the Campaign ’ s conclusion on December 31 , 2021 , Fordham Prep more than exceeded that goal , making it the most successful campaign in the Prep ’ s history .
This impressive outcome supports all aspects of student life and provides the financial stability for the Prep ’ s growth for many years into the future .
Here is some of the impact :
The Prep ’ s endowment more than doubled in size .
25 new endowed scholarships have been created .
Nearly 10 % of additional support to the Annual Scholarship Fund for direct financial aid .
Over 25 % will be invested in improving the Prep ’ s physical plant .
The Prep ’ s pandemic response kept students and faculty safe and healthy , and provided additional financial aid for those experiencing job loss and hardship .
