up the Hushe River Valley. The climbing business drove the local economy for many years. But in recent years, expedition traffic has slowed to a trickle, Rozi Ali, a lifetime Hushe resident, said.
Local elders know education will give their children a fighting chance in a changing world.
“ The community has been asking for the past two to three years one auditorium or examination hall,” Nazir said.“ They request to me that we can build an examination hall [ in the schoolyard ] next to the government building. They have been asking for a long time.”
The community will use the 24-by-30- foot room for student exams, and for school meetings, and extra classroom space, he said.
“ Now Hushe to nine class. When we build examination hall they will be started as a high school,” he said.“ Hushe people are much happy.”
Work is scheduled to start this spring, as soon as the weather is clear, and finish in late summer. n
