THE GORILLA:

The gorilla is endemic to Africa. Dispatched in three isolated regions of equatorial Africa. By its geographic isolation and evolutionary recognizes two species of gorilla-the eastern or western and mountain-being between the two species currently about 111 000 copies, of which it is estimated that there are about 700 copies of the mountain gorilla.

Currently, there are two natural populations of gorillas. One of them is in the parks of Virunga Mountains Mgahinga (Uganda), Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda) and Virunga National Park (DRC), and the other is in the forest of Bwindi (Uganda ).

Gorillas are characterized by living in family groups of between 5 and 13 individuals, which distinguishes a dominant male or silverback, juvenile males and some females and children. There are solitary males who go in search of their own "families", and also groups formed by young males only. Gorillas are not aggressive and territorial so it is possible to see two groups sharing a common area. However the silverback male can become aggressive if they are to defend their group.
