Bury Bury FOOTBALL CLUB Bury FC have been members of the Football League since 1894 and have put together a history of which they have every right to be proud of. Perhaps their most famous moments came in the FA Cup which they won on two occasions in 1900 and 1903. At present, their first team competes in League One and they are based at Gigg Lane which has been their home since 1885. They are led by Chairman Stewart Day who is supported by Vice-Chairman Glenn Thomas and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. So far this season it would be fair to say that their first team has not put together the campaign that they would have liked, having compiled a record of twelve wins, ten draws and nineteen defeats from their forty one matches. This has left them sitting in the bottom half of the table with forty-six points on the board. They will now be looking to put together a good run of results in their remaining games in order to pull away from the relegation zone. This would allow themselves time to build during the off-season as they look to improve in their 2017/18 campaign. The club was recently boosted by the news that they have reached agreement with Goalkeeper Joe Murphy to extend his stay at the club for an extra twelve months. Murphy has been in superb form since joining in the January transfer window, keeping seven clean sheets in eleven appearances. Speaking to www.buryfc.co.uk after the signing was announced, Manager Lee Clark said, “I am delighted to have secured the services of Joe Murphy for next season on a permanent basis. He has been an impressive performer since I arrived at the club in February and, coupled with his attitude, desire and winning mentality, it was important we secured his services as soon as possible. “Any successful team has a strong spine so to get this signing done makes me very happy, and I am looking forward to continue to work with Joe.” Although it has been a difficult season for Bury FC there is still much to admire about the set up that they currently have in place. As long as they are able to pull away from the relegation battle in their upcoming matches they should be well set up for a bright and successful future. Everyone at Football Focus Magazine wishes them the best of luck.
