Berwick Rangers
FOOTBALL CLUB
B
erwick Rangers FC plays their home games at Shielfield Park and they currently
compete in the Scottish Professional Football League Two. They are led by the
team of President John Hush and Chairman Len Eyre and the club is looking to progress
under their guidance.
Their first team has made a steady start
to their current league campaign, putting
together a record of three wins, a draw
and two defeats from their six matches.
This has left them sitting in third position
with ten points on the board.
This should provide them with a solid
platform from which to build as they
look ahead to the rest of the campaign. As
long as they are able to keep their current
group of players together they should
be in with a good chance of mounting a
serious challenge for promotion.
Their Secretary Dennis McCleary took
the time to tell us more about the club.
He told us, “I’ve been involved since
20 Issue 65
1970! I came in as Assistant
Secretary for 6 years then
took over as Secretary,
later as Company
Secretary too, full
time although that
was a short period.
I have been away a
couple of times but
remain Part Time
Football Secretary
to this day. I had
followed the club as
a boy mainly as my
father worked on the
gates.
“We don’t as such have a Youth
Team but run a side in
the SPFL Development
League (Under 20)
which proves more
important.
The
fact we train in
the
Edinburgh/
Lothian
area
means we tend
to concentrate on
players coming in
from the Central belt;
Fife, Glasgow, Borders
etc. We run football
schools in the summer and
