lanfield 85 FC is a fine example of the important role that a club can play in
the local community and is working hard to continue to progress ahead of
the 2019/20 campaign. Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with their
Chairman Peter Osborne to find out more about how the club has been getting along
lately.
Peter told us, “I made my debut as a player in 1987
for the first team at the age of 14,but played as a 13 year
old in the reserve team in 1986 having previously started
watching as a boy in 1978. The most challenging part of
my current role is the finances that are needed to stay
at this level of football, and finding people to help. The
rewarding thing is always the wins, but also the friends
you make and fun you have.”
“The mood is positive here at the moment, everyone
is looking forward to the new season, aiming for more
progress. Last season was a case of what could have been

as we finished 5th but could have easily been in the top
3 with some draws costing us. The disappointing thing
was only winning one round in the Vase. The plan now
is to keep improving on the field and aim to improve on
our league position of the previous year.
“Youth is the key for our continued progression and
we now have four new boys team, a new adventure and
we hope to add and increase the number. This year is
key to providing players with a smooth transition as our
Youth team managers are running a Development side.
