the ground in numbers and we had, with
much regret, to lose our reserve team
because of the ever-present financial
constraints.
The 1st half of the season started
at a cracking pace with 14 wins up to
November but then a series of injuries
and suspensions led to a poor December
indeed in one game we had ten senior
players missing and this has slowed
things up. Since the turn of the year with
players returning things have slowly
improved but the initial impetus seems to
have cooled and with the championship
now beyond reach eyes are already
firmly looking to next season.
We have always tried to have a close
relationship with our youth section that
runs as a separate “club within the club”.
We hold regular mascot days when we
invite one of our teams to be mascots
for the day. We give them a behind the
scenes tour of the club and they get into
the dressing room before the game and
meet the team which is always a great
success with the young lads. After the
game we get them some food etc, we
think they have a great day and it helps
them identify with the club. We also
run a Sunday League side to push the
football envelope further than just the
1st team.
As always money is forever tight
and the relegation hasn’t helped but we
do have a lot more local derby games
in this league so the gates haven’t
really suffered that much but it is still a
struggle to get gates in the three figure
mark. To try to increase income we have
