Our False understanding of the food Pyramid

It appears that our common understanding of the food pyramid is false. For years students have been given a false understanding of the food pyramid. Everyday children were learning in their science classes about what a balanced diet should be composed of, using the food pyramid as a visual means of explanation.

The first food pyramid was created in the 19060s due to the increasing number of Americans who suffered from heart diseases, and ever since then it has been widely spread as a guide to healthy eating. Next page is an image of the original, or more accurately, the most commonly used food pyramid which indicates that to have a healthy diet, ones meals must mainly be composed of Carbohydrates, followed by fruits and vegetables, then proteins, dairy products and finally fatty foods.
