Anthelme Brillat-Savarin wrote in Physiologie Ou Meditations de Gastronomie, ''Dis moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que tu es.'' Which means, tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are. This quote was, basically, the origin of the famous expression that says, ''You are what you eat.'' Essentially, this expression means that the foods you eat can directly affect your health and eventually your performance. For instance, if you nutrify your body with the right and healthy food, it will perform great. But, if you eat a lot of unhealthy junk food, your body will suffer, and your performance will be bad!

So, here are 10 tips that can greatly help you and make your favorite foods healthier:

-Make your creamy dishes without using the cream; you can just mix 1 cup of a low-fat milk with 4 teaspoons of flour, then heat the mixture until it gets thickened.

-Instead of using butter and margarine, use heart-healthy canola oil and olive oil.

-Instead of deep frying, try the oven-frying technique; ''Dip chicken, fish or vegetables in milk, buttermilk or egg, dredge in seasoned flour or breadcrumbs, then coat with canola or olive oil, and then place in the oven and bake at 425-450 degree F until crispy.'' (Stacy Fraser)

-You can flavor your food with spices, vinegar, or lime juice, instead of using salt.

-You can replace half of the all-purpose flour in baked food with a whole-wheat flour to add fibers, essential B vitamins, zinc, and magnesium to your food.

-Use 2 egg whites instead of a whole egg, as an egg white has only 16 calories and 0 grams of fat, while, an egg yolk has 45 calories and 5 grams of fat.

-Try to add grains or vegetables to meaty dishes.

-Try to reduce the amount of cheese in your food, or just use extra sharp cheddar, goat cheese, and Parmigiano-Reggiano to give the flavor impact with fewer calories and fats.

-Go for lean cuts of meat in place of fattier cuts.

-For your snack, try to eat fresh fruits and vegetables.
