How AI and Hyperspectral Imaging Reduced Food Complaints by 90 %
A new case study on the Quantum Design UK and Ireland website highlights how ELROILAB and Specim hyperspectral imaging technology helped a major baby food manufacturer reduce customer complaints by 90 %.
The challenge was detecting tiny chicken bone fragments and other contaminants in minced chicken products— materials that are often difficult to identify using conventional RGB cameras or manual inspection. By combining Specim’ s FX10 and FX17 hyperspectral cameras with ELROILAB’ s AI-powered SPECTRAL AI software, the system can identify contaminants based on their spectral signatures rather than visual appearance alone.

Installed directly on the production line, the solution performs real-time inspection and automatically removes foreign materials, improving food safety, production consistency, and operational efficiency.
Following the project’ s success, ELROILAB plans to expand the technology into recycling and other industrial sectors.
QDUKI are the distributors for Specim Hyperspectral in the UK and Ireland.
