What 60 years has taught us about consistency, credibility and change by Vincent Gass, VP Strategic Marketing & Innovation at kp Food Packaging
In 1965, Klöckner Pentaplast( kp) opened its first facility in Germany. The world was a different place. Packaging was mostly functional and utilitarian, and far from the strategic focus it is today. Few could have imagined the global transformation that would unfold – from regulatory revolutions to sustainability mandates to changing consumer expectations about what packaging should do, and how it should be made.
Six decades on, kp stands as one of the most experienced players in the global packaging industry today. With 30 manufacturing sites in 18 countries and a product portfolio that covers everything
20 FDPP- www. fdpp. co. uk from fresh protein and ready meals to hot fill products and food-to-go, we’ ve not just kept pace – we’ re ahead of the pack. At kp, we’ ve built an ecosystem of innovation: sustainable materials, closed-loop systems, smarter product design. We’ ve shaped industry thinking, from recyclability to traceability, and we’ ve weathered supply shocks, regulatory upheaval, and global disruption.
But if there’ s one thing we’ ve learned – one thing that matters more than any new product or packaging innovation – it’ s this: the most valuable thing we’ ve built in 60 years is trust.
Trust placed in us by brands and retailers who depend on packaging to protect their product and reputation. Trust in our people and supply chain, to deliver consistently, compliantly, and competitively. Trust in our packaging- that it works, that it lasts, and that it leaves a lighter footprint. Trust is intangible. You won’ t see it in a datasheet or a spec, but in packaging, it’ s everything. It’ s also the clearest reflection of who we are as a business.
So, what does it say about kp, that after 60 years, we’ re still a trusted partner for thousands of customers around the world?
Trust … is built on performance
Trust begins with doing what you say you’ ll do, every time. In packaging, that means reliability, functionality, and consistency.
