Pro-Reliability Solutions Limited were recently invited to develop a company ’ s site wide maintenance programme that would deliver maximum availability at lowest cost and risk . The food oil facility was under construction and entering the commissioning phase of its project .
One of the key steps was for the development and facilitation of a FMECA ( Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis ) study .
Data was collected from the equipment manufacturers and entered in to the FMECA worksheets . The teams onsite then challenged the strategies and provided feedback for any possible improvements .
One of the key elements of the new maintenance strategy was to ensure that the right type of Condition Monitoring program was going to be performed against the critical assets .
With the development of the site asset strategy , a planning and scheduling workflow was built to ensure good strategy execution and alignment with production needs .
The study of the production line critical assets included analysis of 262 equipment items and identified 1961 failure modes which required some level of maintenance and asset care to prevent unexpected breakdowns occurring .
It was recognised that as the plant became operational new data would become available that would help and support further optimisation of the maintenance strategies and regular analysis of failure history would be required .
