Alistair Anderson weekend 8-9 February
Musicians of any ability on any acoustic instrument are invited to enjoy playing the glorious
melodies that weave together to create Alistair’s new folk music suite Hidden Hexham. Alistair
said: “The piece is very flexible and we will work out the final arrangement together over the
weekend. Nobody will be playing everything so if a particular line presents problems on your
instrument, or if there’s a bit that you just don’t like, then we can arrange around that”. Music
notation and sound files will be sent out before the workshop.
Alistair will also be calling the dances at a ceilidh in Kings Heath on the Saturday evening,
with music from Cuckoo’s Nest. Tickets are £7 from wegottickets.com
Young Storyteller of the Year
This highly enjoyable event takes place on Saturday 22 March at the new Library of
Birmingham. Celebrating young people’s talents in a big way, cash and performance
awards are offered for the top tellers – the application form can be downloaded from
the website. Individuals, schools and colleges, youth groups and youth theatre, story
clubs and festivals, folk clubs and festivals can all get involved. Following the event, a selection of
young storytellers will appear at various festivals and events during the summer. If you can offer
a platform for young storytellers then the Team would like to hear from you – please ring Fiona
Collins on 01490 430551 or 07941 918159 or email [email protected]
