OLEDs

4

What it is:

Organic light emitting diodes

OLED is smaller smaller than LED. Whereas LED is only used for backlighting LCD displays, OLED is small enough to be used for making the display itself [1]

Uses a layer of organic material sandwiched between 2 conductors.

Pros: energy efficient, wider viewing angle, lightweight, flexible, and thin

Cons: (currently) expensive manufacturing costs

The use of OLED is recommended for devices with small screens like smartphones and tablets

Samsung KN55S9C Curved Panel Smart 3D OLED HDTV - features a 55-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1920x1080. It costs $8997.99 [3]. Compared to other 55-inch Samsung 3D Smart TVs, this OLED Model is about 3 times more expensive
