DotA 2 makes up for its lack of maps with various game modes but LoL has these too.
Now to the maps in general. First of all the map in DotA is generally larger than the one in LoL. The top lane and bottom lane are different in DotA. There is a place for creep pulling which is a term used to describe leading the creeps / minions in the lane to the jungle where experience and gold is denied from the enemy. One lane is easier to be in than the other because of the position of the towers / turrets, although this might be considered unfair. There are also secret shops which sell special items in DotA as well as side shops at the lanes. High grass and high grounds make for an interesting effect. There are ramps that reduce your accuracy when attacking on them. Cliffs are a good place to place wards and this adds a dynamic effect. There is also dynamic vision which changes with a day and night cycle as well as runes spawning in the river.
However, the timing and respawn of the neutral camps make LoL more interesting ensuring many showdowns. DotA only has Roshan so it is not crucial to fight him as soon as he respawns. In general LoL’ s neutral camps seem more interesting. Some say that DotA’ s Roshan is much better than LoL’ s Narshor but again this is just an opinion.
Community
The community of both games varies as there are harsher people and nicer people. I don’ t want to judge on community as much as the other aspects.
Conclusion
Both games are amazing and you should defiantly try them both out. It’ s a matter of preference not simply the fact that one is better than the other. Both games are similar but they have different goals. One is more complex and rewarding while the other is more carefree. Feel free to send your opinion to us. Happy gaming!
