London … a sophisticated city that gives us a touch of past and present. From ancient icons like the Tower of London to more recent phenomena like One Direction, this sprawling wonder of humanity has a near endless string of attractions. Who reckons it’ s the world’ s greatest city?
London’ s famous for many things, from the London Eye to the Big Ben. These monuments gives us a flavour of what London is like ~ an exciting, diverse city with an ancient charm.
When you think of London, what do you picture in your head? Well for a lot of us, we imagine a beautiful, peaceful place with the red soldiers marching in front of a grand palace in the background. This is like an image displaying a thousand words- how London is literally a living, breathing songbook with the most enchanting lyrics written. It shows how unique London is. I’ m pretty sure you wouldn’ t find any other city with majestic palaces and skyscrapers all in one place. Sure, New York’ s vibrant- but would you really see ancient buildings there? No, its just like another Tokyo. London has its own unique layout, which is one of many reasons why London is so special.
You’ ll be spoilt for choice in London when you want to eat in one of its restaurants. Be filled up with scones, biscuits and even chocolate fudge cakes for afternoon tea. Or you might decide to have lunch at one of London’ s museums, where London shows off her proud history. According to most food critics, London has the best Indian food in the world
outside of Birmingham. This also shows how diverse in culture London is.
London is also very well known for its extreme, perverse, and seriously experimental fashion sense. London fashion designers tend to get anything they can put their hands on ~ from tablecloths to old great-grandmother purses. Apparently, this has a good affect on the city’ s fashion status, as last year it topped the fashion charts coming first as the Global Fashion Capital, with New York just behind at second place. Hm. Now we know who wins the fashion trophy.
With tourism in mind, London is the second most visited city out of all the capital cities in the world, just coming behind Paris. Well, everyone loves Paris. With the Eiffel Tower and everything. However London just beats New York in attracting tourists, according to CNN Travel. London is famous with tourists for many reasons. As a global leader in banking and financial services, the city of 8.17 million residents attracts a steady stream of business travelers. With 43 universities ~ the highest concentration of higher education in Europe ~ it’ s popular with international students and scholars. Yes, London’ s very smart as well.
A fashionable, beautiful and intelligent city. London just raised the bar so high for New York.
