Winter has arrived , and with it , bountiful opportunities to enjoy snow sports ! Now is the time to hit the slopes , and we have all the details for skiing ( or boarding ) globally . There are many direct flights from Reagan National and Dulles International airports to skiing hotspots , including Bozeman , MT , Salt Lake City , UT , and even the French Alps !
If bundling up and barreling down mountains is not your thing , there is still plenty to do and see — especially around the D . C . region . This year will be the significant celebration of World Pride in D . C . Programming for the festivities include a parade , conference , and concert with hip-shaking Shakira . In February we honor Black History Month with a gathering of scholars , activists , and community members in celebration of the contributions of Black Americans and the ongoing work toward economic justice . And don ’ t forget to visit one of the many ice skating rinks in the region . We have all the details and insider tips to ice skating this winter .
It ’ s always a good time to travel , and we have loads of exciting destinations to share , including stories about live music in London and the beaches of El Salvador . Hawaii is an excellent spot for generational travel . The islands ’ history , culture , unmatched water sports , and stunning scenery make the trip a hit for the whole family .
While in D . C ., you must check out the Federal Triangle neighborhood , which is highlighted in the Neighborhood Spotlight . This relatively compact area has world-class cultural importance and architectural wonder , and a lot of great hotels and restaurants . While you are there , you can use our Monuments Guide to plan your visit to the National Mall .
