In addition to its expansion , the museum is looking forward to another emerging project , which is likely to begin once the museum has wrapped up on its final stages of renovation . Through a charitable donation from Jeff Bezos , a new structure under the name of The Bezos Learning Center will emerge on the east side of the National Air and Space Museum ’ s flagship location on the National Mall . The building — which will be funded by a large portion of the $ 200M gift gifted to the Smithsonian and built under the direction of Perkins & Will architecture firm — will provide space for educational programs and activities , as well as a restaurant for museum visitors .
With its cutting-edge research , artifacts , and new resources underway , local residents and visitors from around the world can enjoy the National Air and Space Museum ’ s innovative , visionary and creative enhancements that are second to none . The institution ’ s unique aim to cast a mind-blowing view onto visitors beyond just their time at the museum alone , speaks to the ever-evolving fields of aviation , space and aerospace ; perhaps even sparking the next generation with ideas on how they can become involved the field .
