The busy summer travel season is upon us, and Washington’s airports are filled with
vacationing families.
At Reagan National and Dulles International, we’re excited to be your home base
for journeys near and far. The destinations featured in this issue of #FlyWashington
have something for everyone, from cooler destinations to escape the dog days of
summer – including Minneapolis and Maine – to popular vacation spots for the entire
family, everywhere from Barcelona to Asheville, North Carolina. Closer to home, plan a
weekend escape or an easily accessible day trip in Virginia and Maryland, and read up
on the thriving community of Rockville, Maryland, and its vibrant Rockville Town Center.

Every day, but especially this time of year, we take time out of our busy schedules to
honor our nation’s military veterans for their service. In this issue, learn more about
honoring veterans and their sacrifice in our cover story with Gary Sinise, who will be
in Washington, D.C., hosting the Memorial Day concert on the National Mall to
commemorate America’s military.
In addition, this issue of #FlyWashington features the best spots to watch Independence
Day fireworks – and not just on the Fourth of July. You’ll also see a heartwarming story of
a Southwest Airlines employee who went above and beyond for a passenger, plus articles
on the newest nonstop destinations served by Reagan National and Dulles International
airports.
We hope you enjoy this issue of #FlyWashington magazine and your journey through our
Airports. On behalf of all Airports Authority employees and our airlines and other business
partners, thank you for making Reagan National and Dulles International your gateways to
the National Capital Region.
