NEW ART EXHIBITS

AT REAGAN AND DULLES

A variety of new and interesting art exhibits have opened at Reagan and Dulles airports .
At Reagan , the Airports Authority ’ s Office of Diversity , Inclusion and Social Impact is improving the passenger experience with the creation of the Youth Art Walk , located between Terminals 1 and 2 . Through partnerships with various organizations , the Airports Authority provides space for short-term exhibits to feature student artwork . Under this year ’ s theme , The Art of Social Justice to Transform Communities , students were asked to reflect and artistically express the work of social justice leaders , issues and efforts that impact their communities .
The Youth Art Walk highlights artwork from students from D . C . area schools including Duke Ellington School for the Arts , Jackson Reed High School , and the Whittle Scholl and Studios .
At Dulles , an exhibit of 15 contemporary Portuguese artists titled “ Arte Box : Unboxing Portuguese contemporary culture ,” has opened . The exhibit is in conjunction with a sister display at Lisbon ’ s Humberto Delgado Airport .
The exhibit is located on the ticketing level of Dulles ’ main terminal in the West Hold Room near the TSA PreCheck entrance . Housed in eight large cabinets , the art will be on display for at least six months . The Arte Box Project is sponsored by Portugal ’ s Arte Institute and is part of a partnership with the Airports Authority ’ s Art and Exhibits Program . The institute ’ s mission is to promote Portuguese contemporary culture around the world .
“ By promoting art in non-traditional spaces , these exhibitions — held at different locations — open doors to artists and their art as well as create the possibility for people from across the world to get to know the culture of another country ,” said Arte Institute Director , Ana Miranda .
Also at Dulles , an exhibition of Ukrainian children ’ s art has opened on the ticketing level of the main terminal . Funded by the Cifers Foundation , the exhibit features 30 works of art by Ukrainian refugees under age 14 . The images depict hope and peace in a time of war and conflict .
Enjoy these and other art displays on your next visit to Reagan and Dulles airports .
