TRAVELER PROGRAMS
One of the best ways to breeze through the airport is to sign up for the Trusted Traveler Programs . Directed towards leisure and business travelers , Trusted Traveler Programs are offered by The U . S . Department of Homeland Security and aim to make the travel experience swifter and more cost-efficient . While domestic and international travel hit all-time lows over the last few years due to the Covid-19 pandemic , travel has stabilized and resurged . With five-year memberships including TSA Pre , Global Entry , NEXUS and Sentri Programs , in addition to FAST , those who apply , qualify for , and receive membership can reap large benefits .
The U . S . Customs and Border Protection ( CBP ) enables pre-approved members who are traveling by air , land and sea to undergo expedited clearance upon arrival into the country after international visits , allowing program members to cruise through lines and airports themselves . Similarly , TSA Pre members can avoid grueling lines and are exempt from specific screening techniques on both domestic and international air travel . Both programs consist of application fees that might go reimbursed with an American Express Platinum Card .
The 60th anniversary of the opening of Dulles was on November 17 , 2022 . To commemorate and celebrate The Committee for Dulles ( CFD ) held a gala . Airport and airline executives , local aviation enthusiasts , and local businesses gathered and dined on steaks and salmon at the Hilton Washington Dulles . Programming included Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority ( MWAA ) produced videos on the history of Dulles . As the night went on , the crowd-pleasing ticket giveaways began with eight pairs of round-trip flights given away via live drawings . Destinations included routes served by Air France , Avianca , British Airways , Etihad , KLM , Southwest , TAP Air Portugal , and United . The prestigious Tower of Dulles Award was presented to the entire Dulles airport community , recognizing and honoring those working within the various airlines and airport related companies for providing outstanding service to the traveling public .
