Fare Well Bakery – Diner – Bar located at 406 H St. NE; 202.367.9600; eatfarewell. com offers a variety of vegan options that appeal to everyone’ s taste buds. Baker-owner Doron Petersan first wowed vegans and omnivores alike with Sticky Fingers Bakery in Columbia Heights. She also won the the Food Network’ s Cupcake Wars All-Stars. Her second spot focuses on veggie-centric comfort food. Stop by for brunch and enjoy favorites like seitan and waffles, pancakes or French toast casserole. Other favorites for lunch or dinner include pierogi, seitan platter, mushroom scampi pasta, giant polenta fries with perky garlic aioli, whipped cauliflower dip rich with the flavors of Buffalo wings, and a spinach and kale melt enriched with cashew mozzarella. Don’ t forget dessert— the glass-fronted cases at the modernist dinerette showcase treats aplenty, including decadent cookie dough cake and flakey croissants. Chef-owner Khepra Anu never subjects any ingredients to temperatures above 150 degrees Fahrenheit, because he believes that helps produce retain several healthpromoting enzymes. The formidable burger is forged out of hemp seeds, sprouts and almonds, while a crab cake features shreds of coconut dressed with creamy almond butter. Pair your meal with a juice, such as the tangy triptych made with jackfruit, soursop and lime juices.

At this charming corner café, you can enjoy a superlative sampling of the country’ s vibrant fare, which includes plenty of vegan options. Vegans have two outstanding options as protein alternatives— crispy cauliflower or flash fried falafel. Plenty of sides are veg friendly, such as smoky baba ghanoush, garlicky hummus, and tabouli salad packed with parsley and a zesty zing courtesy of lemony vinaigrette.
