Dulles Plane Pull Credit: John Martinez 27 YEARS OF PULLING PLANES FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS VIRGINIA FLYWASHINGTON.COM 14 AUTUMN 2019 The 2019 Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull and Dulles 5k/10k on the Runway leaps from the starting block on Saturday, September 14, 2019. The day starts with the seventh annual 5k/10k run in the early morning, and from 11 am to 4 pm, the 27th Annual Plane Pull — where teams of 25 attempt to pull an 82-ton FedEx Airbus A320 or United Boeing 757 airplane 12 feet in record time — takes place, with food, games, exhibitions, and live music in between. It’s human versus machine, and a whole lot more. In fact, the superhuman efforts of participating teams are to raise money for Special Olympics Virginia and the inspiring athletes who compete. Teams agree to raise at least $2,500, and awards are handed out for fastest pull, heaviest team, most money raised, and more. The Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull have grown into a full day of competition,
