Flagler College Lecture:
Discoveries at the Menendez Encampment Site
As part of the Ideas and Images lecture series, Dr. Kathleen
Deagan, Distinguished Research Curator Emerita, Florida
Museum of Natural History, University of Florida, discusses
“Science and Serendipity: Discoveries at the Menendez
Encampment Site.” Dr. Deagan is the world’s leading authority
on the archeological explorations of the original 1565 campsite
established by St. Augustine’s founder Don Pedro Menendez. The
lecture begins at 7 p.m. at the Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College.

Iris DeMent Concert
Country-folk artist Iris DeMent performs at the Ponte Vedra Concert
Hall at 8 p.m. (doors open 7 p.m.). Grammy-nominee DeMent has
performed duos with the greats of country-folk music and written
songs that have been covered by such diverse artists as 10,000

Sweet Bird of Youth at Limelight Theatre
Sweet Bird of Youth is a classic play by Tennessee Williams which
tells the story of a gigolo and drifter, Chance Wayne, who returns to
his home town as the companion of a faded movie star, whom he
hopes to use to help him break into the movies. Performance times
