Dan Walters has been photographing wildlife for nearly 20 years and is passionate about
photographing birds. He can usually be found in the field every day, where he challenges
himself to capture their color and variety as well as each bird’s unique behavior.
Living in Colorado provides Dan with a wide variety of ecosystems to photograph
in. From the prairie to the alpine tundra, he has numerous subjects to choose from.

home on the sofa. It happens out in the field where you learn to be hyper aware of
the opportunities that surround you if you simply choose to pause and see with an
open mind! This session will help you train your brain to think through not just the
obvious- but the infinite opportunities for beautiful images at a single location! Join
leaders Dan Walters and Lisa Langell on the beach at dawn as they team up to guide
you through several photography challenges that will elevate your skill, creativity,
and open-mindedness! From birds-in-flight, close-ups, flat-lay, abstracts, triptychs,
silhouettes, and more, Dan and Lisa will provide a shot list, inspiration, instruction
and abundant support as you create and compose your way through a scavenger-
hunt style shoot that is fun, educational, and creative. Suggested Gear List: Lenses (bring any/
all), macro, wide-angle, zoom, tripod, shoes suitable for beach walking and a water bottle

Join Colorado wildlife photographer Dan Walters at the St. Augustine Alligator
Farm. Dan will go over photographing birds in flight and metering your
subjects. Since numerous birds are nesting during this time, there are ample
opportunities to photograph parents feeding their chicks and courtship and
territorial displays. Suggested Gear List: 100-400mm and/or 500mm lens, tripod or monopod for
large telephotos.

We want you to enjoy and learn as much as you can in your field workshops.
Therefore it is important to arrive early and have all of your gear ready to go.
Each field workshop will begin with a 10 minute overview of the subject and
techniques. Have your gear ready when you arrive so you do not miss out or
hold up the group.

Brett Wells has worked in the field of photography for over 20 years. He has a
masters degree in photography from the University of Westminster, London, UK. He
taught at the Art Institute of Atlanta for 7 years and currently teaches workshops
around the United States. His work has been published and exhibited in this country
and abroad. Brett is a Technical Representative for Sigma Corporation of America,
supporting Sigma photographers and photographic education around the country.

will walk through the basics of how to choose a macro lens, the proper accessories and
the right environment for macro photography. Tips and techniques for great macro
images will also be covered.

Join Sigma Pro Brett Wells for a beautiful morning walk downtown St. Augustine.
Participants will explore and photograph one of St. Augustine’s iconic building, Flagler
College, also known as the former Hotel Ponce de Leon. It was built by Henry M. Flagler
in 1888 and was constructed of poured concrete – revolutionary features during that
area. One can find 79 Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass windows, numerous Spanish
sayings painted into the ceiling frescos, columns topped by robed women copied from
the temple of Diana in Greece, mosaic floors, Austrian crystal chandeliers and much
more. Architects John Carrere and Thomas Hastings created of the most remarkable
examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture. Suggested Gear List: Wide angle 16-35mm and/or
35mm up to 50mm fixed, tripod, cards and extra batteries
