LEE HOY
Lee Hoy grew up in Oklahoma and Texas and refers to himself as a “Tokie.”
His interest in wildlife began with regular trips as a child to the Oklahoma
City Zoo and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in southwest Oklahoma.
Lee is a contributing photographer for Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine and
Texas Highways. More than being published, he enjoys teaching others to
capture images that bring them joy! Lee has taught beginning birding, sparrow
identification and photography classes for many
Audubon and birding groups and currently serves on the board of the
Texas Ornithological Society.
Lee makes his home at 6,143’ up in the Davis Mountains of west Texas,
just north of Big Bend National Park, where a herd of six Javelina keep him
company when he isn’t out photographing wildlife, landscapes, night skies,
or macro images.
Why You Should Lighten the Load | Photography Seminar
Location: Celebration Hall at St. Anastasia, 5205 A1A South
THURSDAY 3 TO 4:30 P.M.
Price: $25 | Max No. People: 30 | Difficulty Level: All Levels
Do you love photography but hate the weight of your camera and lenses? Not
to mention your tripod, gimbal head or ball head! This class will introduce the
participant to Olympus’ 4/3’ system and how you can lighten your load. Lee Hoy,
who leads birding tours high in the Chisos Mountains to see the Colima Warbler,
finally got tired of carrying his big lenses 10 miles or more each trip. Gladly selling
his big 600mm lens, he now can carry two bodies and lenses for less weight than
one body and lens!
We will explore lenses designed for landscape, macro, and wildlife
photography and consider the difference between the Olympus OM-D E
Mark II and the Olympus OM-D EM1x which is more geared toward wildlife
photographers.
Olympus has created many features and functions that are perfectly designed
for capturing outstanding images without all the weight of many full frame
cameras and lenses. We will discuss those that make capturing spectacular
images easier than ever. You will get to see examples of wildlife, landscape and
macro images taken with the Olympus system.
