Presenter and award-winning photographer, Vinny Colucci has been an
active photographer since 1979 and shooting professional since 1995. He has
photographed the continental United States from coast-to-coast as well as north
to the Canadian Rockies. Vinny is a member of Nikon’s Pro fessional Services and
Wimberley Professional Services. Vinny and his wife Annette’s images have been
published in Nature Photographer magazine and he has authored multiple books.
Engagements have included Popular Photography Magazine, as well as presenting
at Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), St. Augustine, Orlando Wetlands Festival and
Grandfather Mountains.

We will go through the basics of how Vinny sets his camera for capturing amazing
wildlife and birds in flight. Which aperture or shutter speed to set to capture the
best image in any light? Know your histogram? You will have a better understanding
of using your histogram along with your highlight indicator to get the most and
best exposure of your subject. You will be shown advanced techniques so you can
optimize your image when you get back to your computer. Vinny will also share his
secretes of the 7 software adjustment he uses to make his images stand out. Come
prepared to take note.

Join this fun filled field Photography Workshop at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm’s
rookery. This workshop is updated from last year. We will cover getting the correct
exposure on your subject. We will visit shooting in manual aperture preferred as
well as shutter priority. We will cover birds in fight as well as getting the best portrait
of nesting subjects. We ill review long lens techniques and panning techniques
using slow shutter speeds to obtain motion shots. If you have a better beamer and
flash, we will cover the proper use of the flash setup. Prior the shooting portion of
the event we will have classroom time to get familiar with the equipment you are
carrying so Vinny can gear his instruction to each participant.

Join Vinny & Annette Colucci to learn to photograph birds in flight. Have you missed
too many images as birds fly by? We will cover exposure techniques as well as camera
settings. The Alligator Farm’s rookery is the perfect spot to fine-tune flight techniques
as well as portraits of nesting birds. We will demonstrate Ball head vs. Gimbal head
for long lens techniques as well as hand holding with image-stabilized techniques.
Our classroom time prior the shooting portion of the event to give you a chance to
get the settings correct in your camera prior us going out. Vinny will also review each
participant’s equipment so he can better gear his instruction to each participant.

Capture the timeless grace and beauty of the Nation’s oldest city on an early
morning photo tour. Photograph the Castillo de San Marcos rising above Matanzas
Bay; immortalize the Spanish Renaissance architecture of Flagler’s 19thcentury
hotels; and discover endless photo opportunities down ancient back streets of this
fascinating city. Be sure to bring your tripod.
Suggested Gear List: Camera with wide angel lens - 24-70mm is a good range, Short Telephoto 70-200 mm is
a good range, Polarizing filter for each lens, Graduated filter set 3-stop is good. (We have some filters to loan),
Tripod with Head. We recommend a ball head and a cable release.

This is a classroom seminar on flash photography. Learn the principles of the flash
and how each mode works. From Manual to TTL and the new intelligent TTL you
will see how to set your flash to get a natural looking non-flash look to your subject.
Want to know what a Better Beamer is? Want to know how to properly set one and
when to use it? We will cover the Better Beamer Flash attachment. A simple $40
investment makes your 60-foot flash, light up subject a few hundred feet away.
Festival Organizer Note About Field Workshops: We want you to enjoy and learn as much as you
can in your field workshops. Therefore, it is important to arrive early and have all of your gear
ready to go so you do not miss out or hold up the group. Each field workshop will begin with a
10 minute overview of the subject and techniques. Suggested gear lists are listed with each
field workshop.
Sunrise Shoot at St. Augustine Lighthouse | Field Workshop
Meeting Location: St. Augustine Lighthouse, 81 Lighthouse Ave.
FRIDAY & SATURDAY 6:15 TO 8:30 A.M.
Price: $100 | Max No People: 10 | Difficulty Level: Intermediate
**Please note that you must be able to climb 219 steps to the top of the
lighthouse with your camera gear.
We will be shooting sunrise and twilight from the top of the St. Augustine
Lighthouse. A 360 view from the top will give us a range of light on the surrounding
area. We will review polarizing filters as well as graduated neutral density filters. After
sunrise we will photograph the interior of the lighthouse and the spiral staircase as
well as the grounds around the lighthouse in early morning light.
Suggested Gear List: Lens recommended, 70- 200mm, 24-70 mm, fish eye or extreme wide angle in the 16mm
range for inside of the lighthouse - nice to have but not needed - and tripods will help in low light photography.
