A majority of the audience had developed a practice of
watching films in their home VCRs in the early 1980s. Film
studios attempt to bring legal violation of home VCRs had
failed.
Independent films had emerged and Increase in the use of
special effects in movies such as Terminator (1991), Titanic
(1997), Jurassic Park (1993) had seen commercial success in
both cinemas and home videos. In the late 1990s physical
films had developed to digital film technology.
Films were made and re- released in IMAX. In 2009 ‘The
Dark knight’ directed by Christopher Nolan was the first film
to have been partially shot using IMAX technology. In 2009
James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ became the highest grossing film.
Later after 2010 3D films gained popularity and Walt Disney’s
‘Toy Story 3’ gained success both critically and financially.
