DONATIONS NEEDED FOR HAITIAN CHILDREN ’ S HOSPITAL

Two Louisville based non-profit programs are working together to stock a clinic in Haiti with essential supplies , and they need the help of GLMS physicians .
The Women ’ s Global Cancer Alliance ( WGCA ) and Supplies Over Seas are collaborating to transport $ 20,000 worth of hospital equipment from Louisville to Gonaives , Haiti , where a new pediatrics and maternity health clinic is currently being constructed under the direction of acclaimed Haitian pediatrician , Dr . Robard Honore .
“ Dr . Honore needs supplies to outfit this clinic . He is currently the only pediatrician in a community of approximately 350,000 Haitian residents .” said Robert Hilgers , MD , MA , CAE , President and CEO of the WGCA . the capital of Port-au-Prince to Gonaives .”
In addition to the clinic ’ s focus on pediatrics and maternity health , the hospital is envisioned to be a registry for Sickle-Cell Anemia patients and referral center for children from throughout impoverished areas of the country . The WGCA has already done extensive work in Haiti . Just over a year ago , the first cervical cancer screening and prevention clinic was opened in Gonaives , and the WGCA was a major partner in that construction .
