MATCH DAY 2016 AT THE OLD MEDICAL
SCHOOL
On March 18, U of L medical school seniors discovered their residency locations at Match Day
2016 in the Old Medical School. Across the country, students opened their letters of residency
simultaneously, excited to take their next steps
towards becoming a physician.
Almost every one of the 174 graduating seniors
jumped for joy and celebrated their big news.
Sarah Khayat, student representative for the
GLMS Louisville Medicine Editorial Board, will
be completing her residency in otolaryngology
at the University of Illinois in Chicago. “This
was exactly the one I’d hoped for, so I’m really
excited,” she said.
U of L School of Medicine Dean Toni Ganzel
praised the students in attendance moments
before the envelopes were opened, saying,
“Bloom where you’re planted. We’re so proud
of you. We know you’re going to go out and do
great things.”
Congratulations to all the graduating U of L
medical students and good luck in your residencies!
