GREATER LOUISVILLE MEDICAL SOCIETY WEAR THE WHITE COAT This fall, GLMS will proudly host the 5th annual Wear the White Coat program, giving business and community leaders the unique opportunity to shadow a physician preceptor for a day. GLMS wants you as a preceptor! The program begins Wednesday, October 14, at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast at the Kentucky Science Center. There, preceptors and community leaders will be introduced and schedule a day of shadowing. Attendees will also watch a live interactive heart surgery thanks to the Pulse of Surgery program. Following individual shadowing sessions, a reception and dinner will be held at the Old Medical School Building on Wednesday, November 4 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wear the White Coat is an excellent opportunity for physicians to get involved and network with other Louisville community leaders. Preceptors and community participants have repeatedly praised the program for allowing a window behind the scenes of practicing physicians. Please share your time to prove how incredible it is to be a physician. To volunteer as a physician preceptor, contact Membership Coordinator Jennifer Howard at [email protected] or 502-736-6362. LEGISLATIVE TOWN HALL FAST APPROACHING The GLMS Legislative Town Hall featuring Kentucky Senators Ralph Alvarado, MD, and Morgan McGarvey will be held at the Old Medical School building on September 24 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Moderated by GLMS Treasurer and Chair of the Policy and Advocacy Team Frank Burns, MD, the evening’s objective is to learn from both parties about what actions occurred in the 2015 Kentucky General Assembly and to gain perspective about what can be expected in the 2016 session. The GLMS Policy and Advocacy Team is hopeful that issues which received attention during this year’s session such as fair contracting, maintenance of certification and Smoke Free Kentucky will move forward with positive legislative action in the 2016 session. Wine and appetizers will be served. All GLMS members and their guests are invited. To RSVP for the September 24 Legislative Town Hall or to join the Policy and Advocacy Team, contact: at 502-736-6302 or [email protected].
