APPROACHING
“Optimal Prescribing Is Our Inherent
Duty” or OPIOID, the
18-hour CME course
on proper prescribing practices will take
place again in the autumn and winter of
2014. The new dates

KMA TO PROVIDE
FREE EDUCATION FOR
MANDATED CME
The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure requires physicians
licensed in the state to complete 60 hours of Continuing Medical
Education (CME) every three years. To help KMA members meet
these requirements before the current CME cycle ends on December 31, 2014, KMA and the Kentucky Foundation for Medical
Care are pleased to offer “Meet the Mandates,” a full day of CME
sessions, on Saturday, November 1 at the Hyatt Regency Louisville.
Dr. James Patrick Murphy presents
during the February 2014 course.
The three day course allows physicians to learn the nuts and
bolts of prescribing medicines from leading clinical experts. The
know-how learned here will help physicians build confidence
and eliminate stress when optimal care of a patient requires a
controlled substance.
This event will feature sessions on all mandated CME required for
completion by physicians in order to maintain licensure. Sessions
include domestic violence; HIV/AIDS; House Bill 1 (Prescription
Drug Abuse Education); and the newest requirement, pediatric
head trauma.
This event is free to all KMA and GLMS members, but pre-registration is required. Due to limited space, early registration is
highly encouraged. For additional details and to register, please
visit the KMA website or contact the KMA Education Department
at 502-814-1396.
For more information and to register, please e-mail
physician.education@glms.org. Space is limited.
